One of the leading contenders to play the villain Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2, Bryan Cranston, said recently that he was interested in the part.

Cranston, the star of Breaking Bad, is reportedly a frontrunner to play Superman's nemesis, and the actor told Metro on Sunday that he's willing to take the part.

"I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a lovable, sweet man," Cranston said, after he asked the movie's producers to give him a call.

Luthor's most distinguishable feature is his baldhead, a look Cranston has sported for the better part of Breaking Bad's five seasons. Cranston said his wife might not be pleased to hear that he may be cast in another bald role.

"She wasn't so keen on the bald head," he admitted. "The bald head ages a man. It's just that she didn't know me that way, and the last six years it's all of a sudden like sleeping with a stranger - who was less exciting than her own husband. So I don't blame her for being upset."

Warner Bros., the production company for Man of Steel 2, has not commented to Cranston or any other casting decisions for the highly anticipated film.

Another rumored frontrunner to play Lex Luthor is Mark Strong. Coincidentally, Strong is the lead on another AMC show called Low Winter Sun, which premiered Sunday, Aug. 11 after Breaking Bad.
