Knicks coach Mike Woodson still hasn't seen enough from his third-year player Iman Shumpert to name the Knicks guard a starter on the team.

Woodson said that none of the Knicks' players are guaranteed to start the 2013-2014 season, with the exception of Carmelo Anthony,

Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton, according to CBS Sports.

"You've got to go in and earn a spot," Woodson said when asked about Shumperts status as a starter. "That's how I look at it. Thats what we use camp for. I have no idea who's going to start. Camp should be pretty competitive based on the talent, and that's how it should be."

Shumpert's omission came as a bit of a surprise. Many fans expected the 23-year-old to be a shoo-in with the departure of Jason Kidd, who is now coaching the crosstown rival Brooklyn Nets, and the fact that Shumpert started all 45 games last year, after he missed the first half of the season recovering from knee surgery.

Not to mention, he scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in last season's Game 6 clincher over Boston in the playoffs. He also dropped 19 points, on 5-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc, in the Knicks' Game 6 loss to Indiana. Both games were the most important of their respective series, and Shumpert showed an ability to elevate his play when it was needed the most.

Still, Shumpert and the Knicks have had somewhat of a tumultuous offseason. ESPN's Steven A. Smith said the team's owner, James Dolan, was apparently willing to trade his young shooting guard because Shumpert didn't want to partake in the NBA's summer league.

Smith made the revelation to Dwight Howard during an outtake from their July 13 interview on ESPN. The footage was leaked in a viral video.
