Hernandez excelled in academics and football at the Bristol Central High School in Connecticut. Following the unexpected death of his father, Dennis Hernandez, Aaron channeled his grief into rebellious behavior and began socializing with the criminals that frequented his uncle's home on Lake Avenue in Bristol, according to The Providence Journal.

Aaron met Carlos A. Ortiz and Ernest Wallace - who would later become his co-defendants in the murder of Odin Lloyd - at Valderrama's home. Both men are convicted criminals, according to the report. Wallace, described as Aaron's "right-hand man" by investigators, was sentenced to 120 days in jail for various crimes including larceny between 2010 and 2012. Ortiz, 27, has been found guilty of 15 crimes in Connecticut, including assault, since 2004.

Investigators searched Valderrama's home on four occasions looking for evidence that could link Aaron to Lloyd's murder as well as double homicide that took place in Boston back in July 2012, which the ex-NFL tight end has been named a suspect. Prosecutors believe Aaron orchestrated Lloyd's killing because Lloyd had knowledge about the double murders and Aaron feared he would divulge the information.

Detective Lieutenant Kevin Morrell, of the Bristol Police Department, said Valderrama's home was a place "where anything goes."

Investigators also said that Ortiz and Wallace were with Aaron on June 17 and drove Lloyd, 27, from his Boston home to North Attleboro, Mass., where he was shot and killed in an industrial area not far from Aaron's home.
