Fans wondering about the fate of Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) in Game of Thrones season 4 can rest assured that he'll be okay.

Sam has escaped death on multiple occasions through three seasons of Game of Thrones and he will continue to do so in season 4, assuming the series producers don't change anything significant from the A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

Sam's brothers will give him a new nickname in season 4: Slayer. His brothers come up with the nickname after news gets out about Sam slaying the White Walker, which took place in season 3. Sam begins to dislike the nickname after thinking that his brothers are making fun of him and not really believing the story.

Sam also leads the campaign to get Jon Snow (Kit Harington) elected as the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. After Lord Commander Mormont's (James Cosmo) death in season 3, the organization was left without a leader. Though Janos Slynt (Dominic Carter) tries to get himself elected to the post, Sam manages to campaign hard enough for Jon and gets him elected.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoilers: Fate of Jon Snow & Ygritte Revealed

Though Sam does not get a lot of things to do in the latter half of book 3, which is what the producers are adapting for season 4, he becomes more important in book 4. If the producers choose to adapt some of book 4 in the new season as well, Sam will be much more important to the series.

In book 4, Jon decides that since Maester Aemon (Peter Vaughan) is near death, then Sam should take his place as the new Maester. Sam, goes off to get Maester training, taking his girlfriend Gilly (Hannah Murray) and her child with him. Fearful of the journey, Sam does not want to go at first, but decides to go anyway because of his loyalty to Jon. The series may also have Sam visiting his parents.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones premieres in spring 2014.
