Actress Scarlett Johansson talked about a possible career in politics and why she thinks Hilary Clinton would be a great president of the United States in her cover story for United Kingdom's Harper's Bazaar, October 2013 issue.

The Captain America: The Winter Soldier star graced the magazine cover in a bright red silk Dolce & Gabbana red dress, with matching jacket and lips. She was very active in Barack Obama's re-election campaign and spoke at the the Democratic National Convention on Sept. 6, 2012, and Johansson said her political interests stem from her upbringing and her "politically active family."

"To be an active member of the community, to be a responsible citizen and to engage politically have always been part of my awareness and part of my life," the 28-year-old said"More than anything else, I believe that if everyone exercised the right to vote, the right choice would be made by the nation as a whole."

When commenting on a political career of her own, Johansson did not completely turn down the suggestion.

"That seems like a stretch," she said. "But who knows? I don't limit the possibilities. If I have more time, I may be able to lend a bigger voice to politics. I never close the door on those kinds of things."

"Eventually I want to have a family, and that would be my focus, but right now I'm having fun with it. There have been times in my career where I've struggled to find...I was stuck for a while," she explained. "It was more difficult, maybe, to find the right thing to do. Now I'm enjoying a really productive, creative period."

Her ideal candidate for presidency is Hilary Clinton, and Johansson said she hopes to see her win at the next U.S. presidential election in 2016. Her reasoning is due in part to a "maternal instinct" she thinks Clinton has, which would serve beneficial for any commander in chief.

"I think Hillary Clinton would make a wonderful president. I think we could only benefit from having someone in office who has been a mother; women have a different perspective and appreciation of humanity because of that maternal instinct," the actress said. "It can only be a step forward."
