‘Hocus Pocus’ Actress Thora Birch Shares Personal Revelation About Sexuality

Thora Birch is opening up about her identity in a heartfelt moment that surprised and touched many fans during a major LGBTQ+ community celebration in West Hollywood.
The 44-year-old "Hocus Pocus" actress publicly revealed that she is bisexual while attending the 35th anniversary celebration of The Abbey on May 20. Speaking on the red carpet, Birch explained how deeply connected she feels to the LGBTQ+ community and how it helped shape her life growing up.
"As a hometown girl, I'm always here to show my support for the community, which shaped so much of who I am and my identity as well, being a bi person," Birch shared during the event.
The actress grew up in West Hollywood, just a short walk from The Abbey, according to her representative. The famous venue has long been known as one of the most recognized LGBTQ+ gathering places in the area and has been part of the community for decades.
According to JustJared, Birch also used the moment to encourage people to support and care for one another during difficult times.
"Find your community where you can, and stand with them, and stick with them," she said. "That's the only way we're going to get through all this madness is just embracing one another. We have to stop fighting."

Birch attended the celebration alongside her husband, Michael Benton Adler, whom she married in 2018. Her representative added that The Abbey has always felt like home to the actress because of her close ties to the neighborhood and the people there.
The personal revelation comes during a busy chapter in Birch's career. While fans still remember her for popular films like "Hocus Pocus" and "American Beauty," the actress has continued building her career both in front of and behind the camera.
In recent interviews, Birch has also spoken honestly about the challenges of growing up in Hollywood as a child star. Earlier this year, she explained that fame at a young age came with sacrifices, especially when it came to friendships and living a normal life.
"You can't develop friendships, or a core group of friends that stay with you," Birch previously said while reflecting on her early years in the entertainment industry, PageSix reported.
Birch recently appeared in The Chronology of Water and continues starring in Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches. She also made her directorial debut in 2022 with "The Gabby Petito Story" and is preparing to direct another upcoming film project.
