As fans gear up for the premiere of The CW's Vampire Diaries  spin-off The Originals, a new spoiler indicates that a character previously killed off in Diaries may still have a role in the new show.

According to wetpaint.com, the previously killed Kol Mikaelson, played by Nathaniel Buzolic, could make an appearance on the new spinoff series.

The new show focuses on the Mikaelson siblings, who are the original vampire family. Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah are already slated as the stars of the show, but Kol died while appearing on Diaries. But if the character came back from the dead, it wouldn't be the first time it has happened. There are also the possibilities that the three alive Mikaelson siblings could still see their dead brother via flashbacks.

"It is all a mystery. It will be interesting to see what they do," Buzolic told Australia's The Daily Telegraph. "It will be interesting to see what they do."

It was previously revealed that the spinoff will include an appearance by the siblings' father Mikael, who might play a huge role in Klaus's own issues with becoming a father to Hayley's baby.

A previously released photo confirmed that Mikael would be returning.

Kol's return could however be affected by whether or not the actor stays in the U.S. or if he returns to his native Australia, which he hinted at in the interview with The Telegraph.

"I'm really open to doing some work back in Australia," he said. 'I've got lots going on in the States but it is about working as an actor and I'd be happy to come home for a while and do some stuff."

Buzolic grew up in the Sydney suburb of Belfield, and said he would love to return for a while, even if not for work.

"I really miss the Australian lifestyle and being around my friends and family," Buzolic told the paper.

The Originals premieres Thursday Oct. 3 at 9:00 p.m. on The CW. The trailer for season 1 can be viewed below.
