Things are looking grim for Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) on The Mentalist.

Now that Lisbon (Robin Tunney) has been taken by Red John, Jane is seemingly alone in his investigation into the serial killers true identity. Well, he would be if Lisbon hadn't had to foresight to tell at least one team member about the seven suspects.

With Brett Partridge (Jack Plotnick) currently out of the running as a possible Red John, Jane and the CBI are left with six possibilities - Bret Stiles, Gale Bertram, Ray Haffner, Reede Smith, Bob Kirkland, and Sheriff Thomas McAllister. The team will come face to face with four of these men in next week's "Black-Winged Redbird."

While investigating a drone strike, Jane will begin to uncover significant evidence regarding his elusive nemesis'' methods. The clue will somehow come into the mix while the former psychic deals with CBI Director Gale Bertram (Michael Gaston), Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkley), Ray Haffner (Reed Diamond), Reede Smith (Drew Powell) and the shocking surprise that Red John has left in his oven.

So what is Red John's endgame, presuming he has not killed Lisbon yet?

'[Red John] knows that Jane knows that he knows so to speak, which means that we're getting very close to Red John here, and how Jane plays that and how Red John plays him back is a big part of the early season," said series creator Bruno Heller, according to Entertainment Weekly.
