Nene Leakes recently revealed why her friend Marlo Hampton was never chosen to appear full-time on the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Hampton was introduced to the show on season 4 and currently appears on I Dream of Nene: The Wedding. She was a bridesmaid in Leakes' June wedding to Gregg Leakes.

Nene said in a recent interview that Hampton was one of the most difficult bridesmaid during filming of her wedding planning process. She also said Hampton's strong personality was to blame for her not being asked to appear in season 6 of RHOA full-time.

"The most difficult people were Marlo Hampton and Diana Gowins," NeNe told Entertainment Weekly. "When I say difficult, it was unbelievable that they could not step outside of themselves and say that this is a wedding for NeNe, our friend, and let's just be here to support her. They argued most of the time. They were never really satisfied," she shared. "They were very difficult in different ways. After working with Marlo on the show, I could see why she was not a housewife, because she's super difficult. She's super extra."

"When Marlo and I worked on Real Housewives, she was just appearing here and there," she explains. "When we worked on I Dream of Nene, I could see her business sense, and it just wasn't attractive. They [Nene and Diana] forgot that the word bridesmaid ends in 'maid.' Just wear what I ask you to wear, just do that."

Hampton later responded to Nene's interview. She said she believes the reason she was not cast to appear on the show full-time for season 6 is because she is not married.

"I have no husband, so I can't even be a full-time housewife," Hampton told Radar Online in a report published on Friday.

Hampton said she considers herself a cast member despite not being on RHOA full-time.

"I always just say a cast member because I'm on it," Hampton explained. "I'm being called to tape... so I would definitely say I'm a cast member with Bravo."

She said she is aware she has a strong personality and it's why she has been asked to return to the show.

"There's nothing normal about me - I love being extra and I own it," Hampton said. "That's part of Marlo. Me being normal, you wouldn't see me every week being on the show and I'm sure she wouldn't have asked me to be in her wedding if I wasn't extra. I'm different and I'm okay being different," she admits. "I'm on my own little planet and I'm fine on it."

Hampton said fans of the show can expect her to appear on the upcoming season of TRHOA.

"I'm taping a couple of scenes here and there," she revealed "I don't know if I'm supposed to tell you that, but yeah."
