John Lithgow is one of the guest stars slated to appear on this season of How I Met Your Mother and according to a recent spoiler on E! News, his appearance may come sooner than fans think.

Lithgow will be appearing once again as Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) father, who is attending his son's wedding to Robin (Cobie Smulders.) The actor will make his first appearance in a November episode.

"I'm just so delighted to be included in their last season," Lithgow said. "I haven't received the script just yet but whatever they ask me to do."

Lithgow's first appearance was in the Legendaddy episode during season 6 when he shows up to meet his long lost son and is caught in a lie about what his life is really like. Barney meets his father's wife and son, and reacts to his "lame suburban dad" by trying to take his younger brother's basketball hoop.

One thing the actor has confirmed about his appearance during the final season is that Barney's father and mother will meet again at their son's wedding, which could prove to be an interesting scene.

"I'll be working with Frances Conroy," Lithgow said. "I've always wanted to work with that fabulous actress so that's great."

Whether or not Barney's dad Jerome shows up with his new wife Cheryl or not is unconfirmed, but the appearance of the couple is bound to make Loretta uncomfortable.

How I Met Your Mother airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
