UPDATE: Kristen Bell confirmed her wedding to Dax Shepard.

Longtime couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard got married on Thursday in a small and reportedly spontaneous ceremony at Beverly Hills City Clerk's Office, Us Weekly reported.

The pair, who waited to tie the knot until after gay marriage became legal in California, got engaged in 2009. Bell, 33, and Shepard, 38, are parents to 7-month-old daughter Lincoln.

TMZ was first to report news of the wedding. The Veronica Mars actress and Parenthood actor reportedly arrived at the office to obtain a marriage license, but then decided to take up a court employee's offer to marry them in a nearby courtroom. Bell cried during the ceremony, according to the website.

Bell and Shepard vowed not to wed until same-sex marriage bans were overturned.

"The reason we're not rushing to get married is because I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my best friends," Bell said in a February 2013 interview with The Advocate. "That's why we've been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We're just standing up for what we believe in. Period."

This past June, after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 was overturned in California, Bell re-proposed to Shepard via Twitter.

"Will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove," Bell tweeted at the time.

"F--k Yes!!!!!!!!!!!" Shepard replied. "DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let's bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!"

Bell talked about motherhood in August, saying about her daughter Lincoln, "She's absolutely intoxicating!" The actress finished production on the Veronica Mars movie in June and then went on to promote Disney's Frozen, in which she voices a princess named Anna.
