The Mentalist ended their last episode with a bang and the number of Red John suspects is quickly dwindling.

During "Fire and Brimstone," Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) checked two suspects off his list. Former FBI and CBI Agent Ray Haffner (Reed Diamond) and Visualize leader Bret Stiles (Malcolm McDowell) are in the clear while FBI Agent Reede Smith (Drew Powell), CBI Director Gale Bertram (Michael Gaston) and Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) all furthered their likelihood as Red John possibilities when they each revealed a three-dot tattoo on their left shoulders.

Following an explosion and shotgun blast at the home of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) it is unknown which of the six men managed to escape and which, if any, were incinerated.

A new extended promo (see video below) for next Sunday's episode, "The Great Red Dragon," shows that Jane made it to safety but unfortunately so did Red John. As Agent Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) explains, Red John brought a bomb in to take out the former faux-psychic and the other suspects.

Could Jane have seen who had the bomb? Is that incited the yelling and shooting? If he didn't, could somebody else have seen?

There is one thing Jane and Agent Lisbon (Robin Tunney) know for sure - the red-dot tattoos signify something malicious. While Rigsby and Agent Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) will face their own danger at the hands of red-dot bearers, what appears to be a raid in search of Red John will go awry when the suspect manages to hide amongst law enforcement.

The Mentalist airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
