When NBC's Hannibal returns for a second season, the show will be bringing several guest stars along with its weekly diet of mystery and cannibalism.
Whether or not they later appear as Dr. Lecters (Mads Mikkelsen) main course, well, that still remains to be seen.
As the new season kicks off with Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) behind bars and Hannibal still on the loose, another killer will make a reappearance. Eddie Izzard will return as Dr. Abel Gideon.
"I will be back," Izzard announced to Digital Spy. "Everyone's given me great feedback on Hannibal and I've only done two episodes - I really let go in that one!"
Meanwhile, Gillian Anderson will return as Hannibal's psychologist, Dr. Du Maurier. Showrunner Bryan Fuller previously revealed that Anderson will appear in the first episode of season 2, it appears the X Files star will occur more than once.
"I've already shot a couple of episodes and will probably return to work at the end of November," Anderson told TV Guide.
The show has also cast several new recurring characters. Weeds' Martin Donovan will feature as Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne) FBI shrink while Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon will appear as Kade Purnell , an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight who will be putting Jack under a microscope for his involvement with recent events, according to TV Line.
Hannibal is set to return to NBC for a 13-episode run at midseason.
