Nashville fans will reportedly face a tragedy in its upcoming mid-season finale, as speculation continues to circulate over a major death.

While the details on just who'll kick the bucket have yet to be revealed, E! Online speculated that it could actually be either Scarlett (Clare Bowen) or Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), among other characters.

"It sure seems that way. But don't expect to know exactly who at the end of Wednesday's mid season finale. That's because the person displaying the tell-tale signs of impending TV death - including drastic, dangerous behavior - could be a bait-and-switch. In possibly related news, Juliette's attempt to profess her love for Avery (Jonathan Jackson) will suddenly be cut short," stated the entertainment site.

With Scarlett's incredible voice and rise to more greener musical pastures, it's clearly hard to fathom that the creative brass would axe her from the program. While fans have become perturbed by her actions at times, she's still a crucial part of the TV series.

Although Juliette can be quite high maintenance and difficult, she's still one of the leads in the program, which would make her dying unpractical. To top it off, there's still plenty of development in terms of her love for Avery and career evolution that can undoubtedly serve to move her character forward.

Nashville will air its mid season finale, Tomorrow Never Comes, on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 9/8 p.m. Central Time on the ABC network.
