New spoilers are in for the U.K. hit program, Emmerdale, as it looks as though the show won't be pulling any punches in terms of its drama.

A dismal Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) is set to torch Home Farm for Christmas. However, he's unaware that his sister Megan (Gaynor Faye) is stuck inside the burning building.

Actress Emma Atkins, who dons the role of Charity, spoke to Radio Times on Dec. 17 about the tragic circumstances and how they unfold.

"She finds him holding a can of paraffin and he's about to set fire to Home Farm with himself in it. He feels he could end his days there and then. It all became too much for him," she said.

Eventually Declan sets his home on fire with Charity's efforts to put the flames out. Ultimately, he reconsiders his initial plans on taking his own life and escapes with Charity.

The actress goes onto explain how the situation plays out with her character, which turns out to be quite shocking.

"At first, Charity thinks they should make a run for it so that Declan is not held responsible for the fire. They're sat in this layby discussing how she could possibly help him get away with it. But Declan's still turmoil. What they end up doing is rushing back to Home Farm where they pretend that they don't know anything about the fire. But as the situation unravels, they realise that there's a female trapped inside," adds Atkins.

Megan manages to call the fire brigade while still in the house, but her life is seriously compromised nonetheless as the flames increase in intensity.
