Selena Gomez will not be taking her Stars Dance tour to Australia or Asia anytime soon.

The singer canceled her upcoming tour stops in the two locations so she needs some time for herself, she said.

Her world tour was originally scheduled to visit Down Under and through Asia in the New Year, including dates in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. The Slow Down singer was booked to play 13 shows in the region from mid-January. A five-city tour of Australia - her first - was to start Feb. 1 at Perth Arena and then head east for performances on Feb. 4, 6 and 7 before ending Feb. 8 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

The entire lineup of Stars Dance shows in Japan, South-East Asia and Australia were dropped Friday, Dec. 20.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," Gomez said in a statement issued by promoter Live Nation. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me."

An insider told E! News the decision was not an easy one for the former Disney star to make, "but she reached a point where she needs a minute."

She is not having a breakdown," the source said. "She wants to be the healthiest that she can be and this means taking a little break. But she is fine. She is OK...She just realized it was time to take a break for herself."

"She's been working non-stop for six years. She hit a wall. She wants to spend time with her family, especially for the holidays."
