Miami Zombie Attack Victim Sleeping Before Having Face Eaten for 20 Minutes

UPDATE: Ronald Poppo At Risk of Infection from Rudy Eugene's Mouth; Attended Prestigious Stuyvesant High School in New York

New video footage of Miami zombie Rudy Eugene attacking Ronald Poppo has emerged today. The new footage shows the victim being rescued by paramedics after his attacker was shot dead by police. In the video, paramedics try to tend to the victim's facial injuries and place him on a stretcher. The victim is seen waving his arms around as he is being taken to the ambulance and has to be restrained.

The grisly 18-minute  attack took place on Saturday afternoon on a Miami highway. The video also shows many passersby witnessed the attack but did not do anything. Police believe the cannibal attacker attended a Memorial Day weekend beach party and walked three miles home on foot in soaring temperatures of over 90F.

According to Miami Herald, it is believed that Eugene took off his clothes which were later found on the beach and the mainland, before attacking the homeless man who was sleeping on the train tracks. He strips and punches Poppo and straddles him before starting to chew his face off. The attack lasted nearly 20 minutes before police officer Jose Rivera intervened and shot him multiple times after Eugene refused to stop.

Harrowing photos of Poppo's injuries emerged online and he remains in critical condition. His nose, mouth and eyes were eaten off. He reportedly only has his mustache and goatee intact on his face.

Eugene was reportedly with his girlfriend the night before the attack. She reported that he was acting strangely before leaving and later called her to say his car had broken down.

According to The Miami Herald, Poppo had been homeless for some time and had multiple arrests for drinking, trespassing, felony, burglary, and assault.

Eugene was the son of Haitian immigrants and had previously been married to Jenny Ductant in 2005, according to Daily Mail. The pair divorced two years later.

Police say that Eugene was most likely on bath salts, which can lead to this type of violent behavior. According to friends and family of the attacker, he was normally a very nice guy.

Bath salts are generally known as an aromatherapy product used in baths. But these bath salts are just a street name and have nothing to do with making your bath smell nice. When these "bath salts" are  inhaled or injected, the abuser can become high on the substance, driving them to a high similar to "cocaine psychosis".

The attack happened off a highway in Miami at 2 p.m. where the naked human zombie was eventually shot by police 12 times. Police had repeatedly ordered Eugene to stop eating the victim, but after simply growling at the officers and continuing the gory feast, police were forced to forcefully bring the attack to an end. Eugene was killed by the multiple gunshot wounds.

Witness Larry Vega told WSVN: "The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!' The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin."
Vega then went to call police to assist at the scene.
