ABC released a new promo trailer for the midseason premiere of Once Upon a Time season 3 this week, teasing the arrival of one of the most iconic fairy tale villains of all time.

The new trailer features the villainous Wicked Witch (guest star Rebecca Mader) walking down the road with a devilish grin on her face. The sign for Storybrooke is seen in the distance as the evil witch dressed in all black walks with purpose.

Storybrooke was presumably erased in the winter finale of Once Upon a Time, with all of the fairy tale characters returning to the Enchanted Forest. However, the promo implies that Storybrooke will indeed be back in season 3's final run of episodes.

The Wicked Witch will be the latest big villain to face off against Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the gang. Enstars previously reported that the characters will be traveling to the land of Oz in the second half of season 3, though it is unknown how long they will be staying there.

The producers have not referred to the villain as anything other than the Wicked Witch, implying that she is not necessarily the Wicked Witch of the West or even the Wicked Witch of the East. Additionally, her name will not be Elphaba, as found in the Broadway musical Wicked.

Once Upon a Time season 3 returns for its midseason premiere on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
