When The Vampire Diaries returns for the 100th episode there will be a lot of focus on relationships, especially the one between Damon and Elena.

Fans will get to see how the two deal with their breakup when the show comes back on Jan. 23 and it will be "huge."

"[We] see how they're both handling it," the show's Executive Producer Caroline Dries told TVLine in a Jan. 2 report.

She also added that things between the two are "still so tender. There's still so much that is unresolved about it."

But, Damon and Elena aren't the only couple in focus this season. Dries said that Bonnie and Jeremy will "hit some speed bumps."

As EnStars previously reported, Caroline is also going to have some romance of her own.

"That's kind of a joke in the 100th episode. When it comes out about Stefan and Katherine sleeping together, Caroline's like, 'What?! Why the heck am I the only one not getting any?'" Dries also recently told TVLine. "Hopefully, we'll find her somebody new."

Caroline's ex-flame, Tyler Lockwood, is also coming back, according to a behind-the-scenes photo posted by his cast member Rick Cosnett (Dr. Wes Maxfield) on Twitter.

His return to Lockwood could mean that he may even rekindle his relationship with Caroline, whom he broke up with during the first half of season 5 to pursue revenge against his enemy Klaus.

The Vampire Diaries returns to the CW with its 100th episode on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. EST.
