After Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) died in the Once Upon a Time season 3 winter finale, fans were left wondering if the character was ever coming back, but there may still be hope left for him.

Speaking with TV Guide, Once Upon a Time co-creator Edward Kitsis discussed the status of Rumple and whether or not there's a chance of revival.

"He's definitely dead," Kitsis said, before adding, "He went into that knife, it looked like death to me, but he's the Dark One."

As The Dark One, Rumple has unparalleled magical powers, which could presumably be used to revive himself if need be. Kitsis' comments teasing that he is the Dark One also suggest that this isn't the last time viewers will see Rumple.

While Rumple may be brought back to life soon, another main character will die by the season 3 finale. As reported Tuesday, one of the main characters will die permanently.
