Simon Cowell and his wife, Lauren Silverman welcomed their first baby boy on Valentines Day on Friday, February 14.

The 54-year-old X Factor judge took to Twitter to not only share the exciting news with his fans, but to show off his newborn son as well.

"Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome," he wrote.

He added, "Lauren great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages."

Silverman gave birth to Eric at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City shortly after Cowell got the call she was in labor. He flew in from London Friday.

Eric was named after Cowell's father.

"Lauren's mother and sister were in the delivery room with them when she gave birth. Simon's mother, Julie, is looking forward to meeting the baby in the UK," a source told the Daily Mail.

Cowell's friends have also been sending their congratulations to the new dad.

"I called him tonight and he is so excited. It really is all change for him, but he is ready. Eric is a great name. It is great that he picked that name in honour of his father. It is very touching. I can't wait to see them all," Cowell's ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour said.

Mario Lopez, the former host of X-Factor also tweeted:

"#Congrats to my boy @SimonCowell & his Valentine's Day baby!!! Smooth move... Only you could pull that off Sir.:

Piers Morgan also took to Twitter to share an adorable throwback photo of Simon with his father, captioned with, "A young Simon Cowell with his father Eric, who he adored... lovely tribute to name his son after him."
