The gold medal will be caught between the United States, China, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.

According to WPTV, two-time Olympic medalist J.R. Celski was currently the record holder in the 500m and will anchor the U.S. Relay as of last week.

Bleacher Report reported that Celski could have a chance of winning again although he will face some serious competition.

"It's a bummer that we haven't performed quite the way we wanted to individually," Celski said in Sochi. "The team energy and atmosphere is still positive."

Celski finished fourth in the 1,000m, which can be viewed as a disappointment in the competition.

Last Tuesday, Charlie Cournoyer from Canada was the fastest qualifier who won the second heat; his time was at 41.180.

When it comes to men's speed skating, there will be four skaters in each team race head-to-head in race-off rounds as they skate for the gold medal. The fastest men come together as they race to show which nation is the best.

The competition begins at 1:18 p.m.
