Hawaii Five-0 is getting a visit from Melanie Griffith, and Danno's mother will bringing some unexpected tidings with her when she unexpectedly drops in on her son.

Booked for a three-episode arc, Griffith will take on the role of Clara Williams in "Pale 'la (Buried Secrets)." While the Five-0 team investigates the murder of a real estate agent, Danny (Scott Caan) will be trying to get to the bottom of his parents' impending divorce.

Although Clara's martial strife is unfortunate, it will give viewers a chance to learn more about Danny's past and why the detective is so adverse to McGarrett's impulsive nature.

"If you know Danny... yeah, he's a little [tightly] wound... and I think you wanna believe that a lot of that could've come from her," said Hawaii Five-0 executive producer Peter Lenkov, according to Access Hollywood.

From early sneak peeks (see video below), however, it looks like Clara has more in common with the Navy SEAL's roll-with-the-punches attitude. While Danny will be wholeheartedly against his parents' separation, Steve will try to get him to loosen up (if only he took his own advice when dealing with his own mother).

"I think Danny was very suspicious of McGarrett's mother, but I think [Steve] finds [Danny's] mother very charming," Lenkov told Access Hollywood. "[He] wants Danny to cut her a little slack. She's an adult, she's making a decision. You can't decide for her how her life's gonna go. And you'll see a lot of that dynamic play between them in the three episodes."
