While fans and the internet continue to try analyzing each remaining episode of How I Met Your Mother, hoping to find some hints about what to expect in the March 31 series finale, one member of the cast has provided a very small sliver of information about the episode.

Mother's Name Not Revealed Until Series Finale?

"It's going to be a lot of fun," Ray Wise, who plays Robin's father on the series, told CBS. "It's going to be beautifully resolved. I think every fan of the show is going to love the way it ends up. And I can't say any more on that. I'm sworn to secrecy."

Though Wise seems to be reassuring fans that all will end well on the series, the most popular theory to date has been that the titular mother character would have her death revealed in the series finale episode, Last Forever. The theory is one that has been around for years, with fans reasoning that it would explain why Ted is telling his kids the stories he does, and evidence has appeared to point in that direction as of late.

Mother's Death Strongly Hinted At?

The most recent evidence that the character could die by the final episode stems from the March 3 episode of the show, Vesuvius. In a flash-forward to 2024, Ted and the Mother are back at the Farhampton Inn for a romantic getaway and are reliving Ted's stories about the day of Robin and Barney's wedding.

After the story concludes with Ted talking about how Robin's mother showed up for the wedding, his wife piped in by commenting "what kind of mother is going to miss her daughter's wedding?" At that moment, Ted's eyes began to tear up, causing many fans to speculate that the Mother may be sick, and is not expected to be alive by the time their own daughter, Penny, marries.
