HBO released a new trailer this week for Game of Thrones season 4, teasing more revenge and betrayal than ever before.

"Purple Wedding" Set To Occur in Season 4, Episode 2?

The season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones is just weeks away, and HBO is hyping the season with a new trailer. The trailer highlights the idea of protecting family, particularly Sansa (Sophie Turner), who is still embittered by the events of the Red Wedding.

There is also an emphasis on the dysfunctional Lannister family, with a particularly interesting dialogue between Cersei (Lena Headey) and new character Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal).

Brienne Facing "Great Hardship" as Arya Becomes "Darker"?

"What good is power if you cannot protect the ones you love?," Cersei asks, to which Oberyn replies, "We can avenge them."

The season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones is titled Two Swords, and it is sure to be eventful, based on HBO's plot synopsis. In the episode, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) will welcome a guest to King's Landing, likely to be Oberyn.

Meanwhile, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) finds that he is "unwelcome," potentially relating to his place in the Night's Watch. Jon was last seen with arrows sticking out of him, a result of his betrayal of Ygritte (Rose Leslie). Elsewhere, Jon's half-sister Arya (Maisie Williams) encounters an old friend.

Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is directed to Meereen, which is the most significant slave city in Essos.

In other Game of Thrones spoiler news, one of the show's co-creators recently revealed that he and fellow co-creator D.B. Weiss know how the show ends - novel writer George R. R. Martin told them.

"Last year we went out to Santa Fe for a week to sit down with him [Martin] and just talk through where things are going, because we don't know if we are going to catch up and where exactly that would be," Benioff told Vanity Fair. "If you know the ending, then you can lay the groundwork for it. And so we want to know how everything ends. We want to be able to set things up. So we just sat down with him and literally went through every character.

Martin still has not released the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire novel saga. Assuming the show catches up to the books' story, this would allow the show writers to continue with the show.

Game of Thrones season 4 premieres Sunday, April 6 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
