HBO's new series, True Detective, has received excellent reviews overall, since its January 2014 debut. With much ado about season 2, the series creator, Nic Pizzolatto, hinted that it will be about "hard women, bad men," and it may even feature a female lead along with Brad Pitt.

'True Detective' Season 2: Brad Pitt Plus 'Hard Women, Bad Men' To Join Cast For 2015?

Reportedly, an all-new True Detective is scheduled to return in 2015 and showcase a new setting, new characters, and a new storyline each episode. Sunday, IB Times described the hit series saying, "its brilliant concept is that the show can reinvent itself every year in order to stay fresh and lure in Hollywood talent who would otherwise not commit to a television show."

However, a major complaint from viewers of True Detective's first season was that it didn't feature any prominent female characters. "In the world of True Detective, they are portrayed as either victims, nagging wives or concupiscent women of the night, and being HBO, naked female flesh adorned nearly every episode," said the report.

Likewise, True Detective kicked off its first episode with Detectives Martin "Marty" Hart (Woody Harrelson) and Rustin "Rust" Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) investigating the murder of a former prostitute, Dora Kelly Lange. At the scene of the crime, a blindfolded Lange was found at a smoking crop field with a symbol painted on her back and deer antlers fastened on her head, in what appeared to have been a ritualistic murder. The other portrayals of women in the show included a betrayed wife and a mistress.
