The latest episode of Revenge, Impetus, took it to the next level. Emily checkmated King of the Hamptons Conrad, but can she knock out Queen of Vindictiveness Victoria in the season finale, Execution? Especially now that Victoria knows who Emily really is?

A.V. Club called Impetus "the best episode of the season" on May 4. This "fist-pumping" rabid-fire ideal was enough for a fan to "shout 'REVENGE!' from the rooftops," they said.

Whose Grave Is Emily Digging in 'Execution'?

Emily Thorne kidnapped Charlotte and forced her to confront the dark truths behind her parents - they are not nearly as good as she thinks they are, and that they are behind David Clarke's murder. Emily manipulated Charlotte into outing Conrad about David Clarke, and Conrad had a gloriously evil meltdown. The kicker, his tyrannical rant was broadcast for the whole world on live television as he told her to "shut her stupid, thankless mouth!" And then there was a pan to Emily, half-grinning/half-crying in satisfactory glee.

But after so many seasons of revenge, can Emily ever going back to being her true self, Amanda Clarke?

"Emily Thorne is a machine. That's why I created her. I had to find a way not to feel. The truth? I have no idea who Amanda Clarke is anymore," she said.

Her total identity crises builds up to one final episode, Execution. With the kingpin thoroughly checkmated, it looks like a game of chess between the queen pin Victoria and Emily. Victoria knows who Emily really is (even if Emily doesn't) according to a teaser.

Says Victoria, "The second I laid my eyes on you, I knew something was wrong. Now this is where it all ends," she says. "You were running around under a false identity. You won't get away with this. You are Amanda Clarke."

Showrunner Sunil Nayer says, per an earlier Enstars report, Emily and Victoria become "really, really potent rivals again, in ways that you've never seen before... It's going to be super satisfying...every single person does some pretty extraordinary things in an effort to not lose their side of the argument."

Looks like the gloves have finally come off! Pictures recently surfaced of Emily digging a grave too. Whose grave is she digging in Execution?  Nayer says it's going to be mind-blowing.

"Emily goes all in on her mission to avenge her father on the season finale. Nothing is off limits as Emily and Victoria are dead set on destroying each other. Lives will be lost and fates will be altered, but who will rise victorious?"
