Lykke Li sang about heartbreak on her first two albums—2008's Youth Novel and Wounded Rhymes in 2011—and that theme is reiterated on her new release, I Never Learn. This final part of her trilogy is hauntingly beautiful and relatable.

Lily Allen's 'Sheezus' Review: Same Bold Statements, More Mature Outlook

The Swedish singer-songwriter is full of raw emotion and it's easy to get fixated on every word she belts out. On Never Gonna Love Again she's obsessing over a past relationship and asks, "Can feel your hand in mine? Can we start all over again cause I'm never gonna love a new?" And on Heart of Steel she pleads with her own heart and says, "Don't leave me stranded, don't leave me alone. Don't leave me dying, without a lover to hold."

The music backing her powerful lyrics is just as enthralling as her unique vocals, especially the pounding drums heard on Gunshots as well as Just Like a Dream. On Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone she softly sings against an acoustic guitar and the simplicity is almost soothing.

Iggy Azalea's The New Classic Album Review: Offers Upbeat Motivation

There aren't any disappointing songs on the album, as the 28-year-old successfully demonstrates the pain of failed love. Although Lykke Li's words are melancholic, there's also something joyful in each song making it very hard to stop listening to the nine-track album.

Lykke Li's I Never Learn hits stores on May 5.
