The latest on the speculation surrounding the casting of the HBO series, is that Katheryn Winnick is being nominated for a part in the second season of True Detective.

What We Know About The Plot And Casting So Far

Right now, the actress has been nominated by fans but maybe the powers that be will pay heed. Winnick tweeted about the great fan support and said she was a huge fan of the show:

"Thanks for all the love. I'm a huge fan of the show. #TrueDetective"

Story Won't Be A Murder Mystery This Time Around? 

Even if Winnick were to be considered she would be going up against some heavyweights.

Enstars had reported that Kate Mara and Ellen Page had been added in the stars being considered for roles and more recently Emma Stone had gone and upped the competition by stating that she would be very keen on nabbing a part in the HBO mini-series second cycle. In an interview with Vogue, Stone was also clear about who she'd like for a partner, Kristen Wiig is her pick.

"That would be amazing. I would do True Detective with Kristen Wiig in a heartbeat," she told the publication when asked if she would be interested in working on it.

The first season of the show which was a critical success starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in the lead roles as a pair of detectives who return to an unsolved case about a ritualistic serial killer after around a decade.

The series was created by Nic Pizzolatto and the first season was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.
