A character who left Downton Abbey two years ago may come back to the series to cause misery and grief for the other characters.

Thomas Will Have Something To Smile About?

On Thursday, Belfast Telegraph reported that Siobhan Finneran admitted that she would definitely be interested in returning to the series to reprise her role as Sarah O'Brien, the scheming maid of Lady Grantham. If this did happen, it would likely be to create some more enticing drama.

"I'd love playing her, but she'd have to go back for some reason," Finneran told The Sun. "I'd love to return and wreck the Bates' marriage or something like that."

The actress went on with why she enjoyed playing the conniving Sarah O'Brien so much, and how she would love to make an appearance on the series again.

"Miss O'Brien was so wicked, bitter, horrible and vile but she was funny as well as being very, very, sharp," Finneran said. "Maybe one day O'Brien will fly back on her broomstick to cause mischief and mayhem."

Finneran is not the only one who would be happy to come back to the British drama. It turns out that series creator Julian Fellowes would also be glad if Miss O'Brien came back in a previous interview with Vanity Fair.

"I'd love it if she did [return]," the creator said. "O'Brien is very much alive. Her departure could be explained in that she simply got a new position."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in January 2015 on PBS.
