The upcoming final episode of Survivor: Cagayan will be different than any finale in the past, according to the latest comments from Jeff Probst.

Survivor: Cagayan To Feature Final Two?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly after Wednesday night's episode of Survivor, Probst discussed the many ways the finale would be different and what surprises were in store.

"To start with, I'll be live from the beginning of the two-hour finale. I'll also be live at the end of every act," he explained. I'll be interacting via social media @jeffprobst with fans at home and in the audience. We're endeavoring to make this more of a shared event rather than a passive viewing experience."

Survivor Season 29 & 30 Concepts Revealed?

It's not outwardly clear if this means that he will be live on the air or if he will just be "live" on Twitter, but assuming it's the former, then this would indeed be a big change. Normally, the show only goes live when it's time to reveal the winner, followed by the live reunion show.

In discussing the actual content of the finale, Probst is promising "surprises" in regard to how the game finishes in addition to "two of the most exciting challenges of any finale."

After this is the reunion, where Probst promises there will be a focus on some of the relationships that developed over the course of the season.

"There is definitely a lot of unfinished business that we'll deal with. I anticipate a really fun night to finish off a really fun season!"

The promo for the finale episode also teases that it will be a strong finish, with emotions running high. Tony Vlachos is shown breaking down in tears, which is a rarity given his ruthlessness in the game thus far. Meanwhile, Kass McQuillen is telling someone, "Do you want me to come out and be your mama, or do you want me to come out and win?"

Woo Hwang even threatens to "burn the whole place down" if need be.

Survivor: Cagayan airs its finale Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
