Lately there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the cast of season 2 of True Detective, and with new contenders like Jessica Chastain have entered the game, Brad Pitt's role in the HBO series has come under the scanner.

Who Would Make For Brad Pitt's Ideal Partner In The HBO Series?

Interestingly enough, while many actresses have been nominated for the starring in the show, Pitt is the only male in the running. People have been quick to assume that he is being eyed for a leading part, which might very well be correct but Enstars reckons this might be for playing the villain.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pizzolato had said that the basic idea behind the second season was "hard women, bad men, and the secret occult history of the U.S. transportation system."

What We Know About The Plot And Casting So Far

This could mean that the detectives would be "hard women" fighting the "bad men." The talk of various female cast members being considered to play lead parts also seems to corroborate this fact.

Enstars reported that Kate Mara and Ellen Page have also been added in the stars being considered for roles and now it seems like Emma Stone has gone and upped the competition by stating that she would be very keen on nabbing a part in the HBO mini-series second cycle. In an interview with Vogue, Stone was also clear about who she'd like for a partner, Kristen Wiig is her pick.

Story Won't Be A Murder Mystery This Time Around?

We believe Pitt would only take a major part, which means he wouldn't play a supporting role -- as the women take the conscientious lead. So could this mean he will helm the dark side on the show?

The first season of the show which was a critical success starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in the lead roles as a pair of detectives who return to an unsolved case about a ritualistic serial killer after around a decade.

The first season of the series was was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.
