Now that reports are suggesting that Brad Pitt is close to signing the deal to star in the second season of True Detective, Enstars rounds up a list of actors who would make for his ideal partner on the show.

While fans are excited about the possibility of Brad Pitt taking the lead in the second season of True Detective, there are also questions about if the show will have two lead characters like in the first season. If that were the case, who would make for a strong team with Pitt's character.

1. Michael Fassbender: The actor is known for pulling off intense, conflicted and aggressive characters, in films like 12 Years a Slave, Shame, and Inglorious Basterds. He's got the degree of machismo and strength to combat the bad guys. He can also philosophize like Matthew McConnaughey.

2. Tom Hardy: Another tough dude who is no stranger to complex and tough characters. Hardy has blown critics away with his recent performance in Locke. Yes, though the hulking actor has mostly portrayed villainous roles -- The Dark Knight Rises, Bronson and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy  -- but he brilliantly humanizes those monsters.

3. Ryan Gosling: All right this one might just for audiences having been starved of the actor's presence on the big screen but it also seems like he would compliment a seasoned and older actor like Pitt really well. In some way, Gosling is the new Brad Pitt to today's generation.

True Detective Will Have a Feminist Tone this Time Around?  

4. Gary Oldman: It would be interesting to see a seasoned actor of an older pedigree, who has some heavyweight experience playing roles of every nature behind him would make for a stellar on-screen partner for Pitt.

5. Daniel Day Lewis: This would be a long shot but seeing the method actor take on the role of the detective and make his television debut opposite Brad Pitt would be nothing short of epic.
