Survivor host Jeff Probst has revealed new details about the upcoming 29th season of the series, which will bring back one of the show's more successful twists, Blood vs. Water.

Season 29 & 30 To Feature 'All New People Back To Back'?

Survivor Season 29 is titled Survivor: San Juan del Sur - Blood vs. Water. As noted in the title, Season 29 will bring back the family twist, with players competing against/with their loved ones. However, this time around, instead of having 10 returning players coming back with a loved one each, it will be all new players.

With Season 29, the series is essentially combining the past two seasons, with Season 27's Survivor: Blood vs. Water having the compelling twist of having family members involved while Season 28's Survivor: Cagayan proving that new players are still an interesting concept, rather than returning players.

Spencer, Tony & More To Return For Future Survivor Seasons?

Probst spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming season, which hasn't been filmed yet, though he is promising the return of Redemption Island.

"Yes, Redemption Island is back," he revealed. "And there wasn't even a consideration to not bring it back because so much of our drama came from that explosive energy at Redemption Island when the tribes were already there and then the competitors walk in and it's the first moment that the other tribe gets to see who was voted out and then you have a loved one going, 'Oh, man, it was my wife! Are you kidding me? Who did that?' And I think that was really the cornerstone for a lot of story that came from it."

However, they will be making an adjustment to the Redemption Island twist regarding the duels, though he would not say more.

Probst is confident that this upcoming season will extend Survivor's hot streak, with many of its recent seasons behind massively successful in terms of fan reception.

"We have not shot a single second of the show," says the host, "but I feel really good going in that we have another very good group of people."

Survivor: San Juan del Sur airs this fall on CBS in the regular Wednesdays at 8 p.m. timeslot.
