America's Next Top Model Season 21 doesn't come on the air until August 2014, but the reality TV show is already making news with a controversial contestant.

Chantelle Brown-Young, 19, is featured on the CW show and is the first model to compete on the reality program with the skin condition vitiligo. Young said she noticed her skin changing around when she was three or fours years old. Despite her skin condition, Young decided to pursue modeling anyways.

"If God wanted me to be black, I'd be black," Brown-Young said. "If he wanted me to be white, I'd be white. But He chose for me to be both, an original. So I guess that's what I'm supposed to be."

Young posted a "plea video" online to be a contestant on the show. "A lot of people have a story and a background, but mine is painted on my body," Brown-Young said. On social media, Young also goes by the name Winnie Harlow and has over 4000 Twitter followers. Brown-Young considers herself a spokesperson for vitiligo.

America's Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks is known for pushing the envelope, so it's no surprise that the supermodel would cast Brown-Young.

On previous seasons of ANTM, Banks has a transgender contestant named Isis King and even an entire season devoted to short models.

America's Next Top Model is the CW's longest running series. The show will once again feature male and female contestants in the race for a coveted modeling deal.

No official airdate has been announced for this upcoming season.
