Fans of the massively successful animated film Frozen were delighted to see one of its most important characters pop up at the end of Once Upon a Time's Season 3 finale, and now there is new information about how the character will be depicted on the show in Season 4.

Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke with Entertainment Weekly Radio recently and discussed how they were going to adapt Elsa to Once Upon a Time through Season 4.

"For us, I think this is Elsa from Frozen. That was kind of the inspiration... Will there be our own elements put to it? Yes. Like all things like we do with Snow White or Peter Pan or Captain Hook, we take our own kind of twist on it but remaining faithful to the actual essence of the character."

Frozen Characters Anna & Olaf Set To Join Elsa In Once Upon a Time?

Elsa first appeared in the final moments of the Season 3 finale, though she was only seen from the back. Anyone who has seen Frozen, though, would be able to recognize the character's iconic blue dress and blonde braid.

There has not been an official cast announcement for who will be playing the live-action Elsa, so fans have been speculating and adding their suggestions. Wetpaint suggests such actresses as Elizabeth Mitchell, Portia de Rossi and Kristen Bell, who actually voiced Anna in Frozen.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 premieres in fall 2014 on ABC, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date. It will be returning to its regular timeslot of Sundays at 8 p.m.
