As Masters of Sex Season 2 gets closer, so do some of the spoilers about the Showtime drama's first new episodes.

Sexual Revolution Explodes Between Virginia And Bill

The Hollywood Reporter debuted the new art for the second season, which shows Bill Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) in bed together. Virginia is wearing a pink negligee, while Bill appears to be shirtless. The tagline reads "Their work is their passion." This seems to be following the idea that Virginia and Bill will be closer then ever on Masters of Sex's second season.

Showrunner Michelle Ashford was asked if she ever worries about "too much sex" on a show that's obviously all about the subject manner. "They were legitimate researchers so we have all that," Ashford told Variety about the real-life Masters and Johnson. "I have a barometer of what I want to see and what I don't want to see on any kind of screen."

Ashford continued to say that the sex has to have a purpose on the show. "Our challenge has always been, how do you make sex story? That's what we're trying to do. As long as I feel we're trying to make sex story, we'll try anything. Then I don't feel creeped out by it."

When Season 1 left off, Bill was declaring his love for Virginia and the two were seeming to embark on an affair. "We could have an affair," Virginia tells Bill in the teaser trailer, "but what we have is so much more. We have the work."

Masters of Sex returns to Showtime on July 13.
