In a new interview, Don said he thought Dakota would be "spectacular" in the highly anticipated role of Anastasia Steele.

Rita Ora Says Shooting Fifty Shades Was 'Best Experience'

"Speaking like a proud father and a seasoned professional, I can tell you that she is a gifted, gifted actress," Don continued "and this will just be one part in a long line of tremendous performances in her career."

Don had previously said that he thought Fifty Shades of Grey would be a "blip" in Dakota's career.

Despite being proud of his daughter, Don said he wouldn't be seeing the film anyways. "It's not something I would go to anyway," Don said defending his choice. "I probably will not see it just because it's not a movie I would see. I've never seen The Vampire Diaries, I've never seen Twilight. It's in a category of films that I just wouldn't be interested in."
