As filming for season 3 of House of Cards is set to begin, showrunner Beau Willimon spoke with Katie Couric about the Netlflix series, for the Aspen Institute on June 29.

Willimon was very tight-lipped when it came to talking about season 3 of the series despite Couric's various attempts to wheedling something out of him. The creator mostly analysed the events of season 2 and the various character arcs. While talking about Zoe Barnes' (Kate Mara) shocking death in the beginning of season 2, Couric also brought up Zoe's boyfriend on the show, Lucas Goodwin (Sebastian Arcelus), asking if he would come back in season 3.

In season 2 Lucas was put behind bars and there is no telling if he will come out of prison and seek vengeance of Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey). When Couric questioned about his return, Willimon gave his standard answer -- that he is using to answer when asked about the future of many characters on the show -- suggesting that there was only one way to find out.

The third season of House of Cards will film in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.
