Hannibal's two main characters will be an ocean apart when season 3 premieres, but that doesn't mean the story of Dr. Lecter and Will Graham's relationship will fall by the wayside.

Dr Lecter Will Be 'Traumatized' By 'Hannibal' Season 2 Finale Events, Misses Will Graham

Since Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) closed out "Mizumono" by approaching cruising altitude on his way across the pond while Graham (Hugh Dancy) was left to bleed out on his psychiatrist's floor, it seems incredibly unlikely that the pair will soon bond over an exquisitely prepared meal of human in the near future. Considering Hanni and Will's disturbing bond is the driving force of the series, it is hard to imagine how their tense (former) friendship will play out on screen next spring.

Series creator Bryan Fuller recently likened the upcoming distance problem to C-3PO and R2-D2's Star Wars separation.

Bryan Fuller & Hugh Dancy Debate Nature Of Dr Lecter & Will Graham's Relationship In 'Hannibal'

"It's a little bit like Empire Strikes Back, which had C-3PO and R2-D2 separated for the bulk of it - that has kind of been our approach," Fuller explained to Digital Spy. "You surround both of the droids with storylines and scene partners that are as intriguing as it is to see them together. So I feel like that's been one of the fun challenges of this season, not having scenes with Will and Hannibal together but also getting a greater sense of what they mean to each other, in those absences."

Considering how adeptly Hannibal handled Will's mind palace during season 2, Dr. Lecter's recent relocation should prove the be of little trouble.
