Major Crimes is in the middle of its third season on TNT, having spun off from The Closer in 2012, but the seventh episode of this season could, potentially, lead to a spinoff of its own.

According to a story from Carter Matt published on Monday, the new episode called "Two Options," is enough of a departure from the regular course of the show, and it could perhaps provide fodder for a new show, should there be an interest in it.

This new episode of Major Crimes will be focusing on the Special Operations Bureau, as opposed to the Major Crimes Division that gives the show its name. The synopsis of the episode is as follows:

"When SWAT officers working Crime Suppression discover an elderly couple gunned down in their own home, Major Crimes must team up with the LAPD's Special Operations Bureau to hunt down a killer stalking the city of Los Angeles, and taking hostages along the way. Jon Tenney, Laurie Holden, Lindsay Price, Malcom-Jamal Warner, Bill Brochtrup, Brock Harris and Hampton Fluker guest star." That is a fairly large guest cast, including some well-known names.

Tenney is returning to the show in his recurring role as Fritz Howard. Holden has been playing Andrea on AMC's supremely popular The Walking Dead. Warner, of course, will probably forever be best known as Theo from The Cosby Show, even if that was many years ago.

The series typically focuses on Mary McDonnell's Sharon Raydor, but it seems like "Two Options" is going to give the show a different feel, if only for one week.

Major Crimes airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. on TNT.
