Andrea Kelly's Hollywood Exes co-stars, Shamicka Lawrence and Nicole Murphy respond to her public split with Brian McKee.

Brian McKee Dodges Questions About Andrea Kelly

Kelly filed for divorce from McKee just two months after tying the knot. She ended the marriage when women recognized him on the VH1 series and claimed they were dating him as well. Now, Kelly's closest friends are speaking out.

Murphy, who was always a little suspect when it came to McKee's intentions with Kelly, told Hip Hollywood at a pre-party for the ESPY Awards Wednesday, "I'm glad she's out of that situation. He seemed very self-centered to me and second of all, he could not sing. He was no R. Kelly."

Lawrence, who was previously married to Martin Lawrence, also updated fans on how Kelly is coping.

"I talked to her. She's okay. She's bouncing back. I think the reality is, we go through a process as women, we want to be loved, we want that fairytale. It's a life lesson. It doesn't always happen the way we want it to happen."

Shamicka and Murphy, who is the ex-wife of infamous comedian Eddie Murphy, also spoke on Kelly's daughter Jaya Kelly, coming out as a transgendered male last month. The two ladies offered their support for Andrea and the child, who now goes by Jay.

Murphy said, "As long as her daughter is happy. That's what matters. You don't want to be something you're not. And if she feels she's a certain way then that's what it is. More power to her."

Shamicka added, "That's a personal thing. If she's fine with her daughter's decision, I'm for it. You just have to love your child no matter what."
