Country singer Blake Shelton might not be joining a tribute band anytime soon, but he has landed a spot on a new The Doobie Brothers tribute album.

The new album, entitled Southbound, will honor The Doobie Brothers, who won four-time Grammy-winning during their career. Not only will the band's music be featured on the album, the band itself will be playing alongside today's biggest country stars.

According to the Thursday News OK announcement, a number of artists will be joining Shelton on the record, including Vince Gill, Hunter Hayes, Tyler Farr and Casey James. The album is set to include 12 tracks reliving the glory of the 1970s band. The contributing performers were able to choose which songs they wanted to play, meaning there are bound to be some hidden gems mixed in with classic no. 1 singles.

Shelton has selected Listen to the Music, with Hayes accompanying him on guitar. The song was originally released by The Doobie Brothers in 1972 on the Toulouse Street album. It was written by singer and guitarist Tom Johnston, who also penned a number of the band's no. 1 hits.

Southbound is scheduled to be released on November 4.

Shelton has also been working on a lot of his own music lately. Last week he announced details on his new album, which comes out next month. The cover shows a black and white image of a water tower against a stark sky.

The singer's new album, Bringing Back The Shine, will be available for purchase September 30.
