James Holmes Family Statement; Shooter Had Broken Up With Girlfriend, Up For Eviction
More information continues coming to the surface regarding Colorado shooter James Holmes. Apparently, the killer had dropped out of the University of Colorado and was coming toward the end of his accommodation grace period for being at his apartment.
It is also been alleged that Holmes may have had a recent break up with a girlfriend as well. However, authorities are still conducting an investigation on the latter claim as to better understand his mindset.
According to the Daily Mail, a former classmate has recently come out of the woodwork and described the murderer as someone who had seemed to lose his grip on the real world.
"It seemed that being online was more important to him than real life. He must have lost his sense of reality, how else can you shoot dozens of people you don't know?"
The former classmate also spoke about the shooter's infatuation with video games.
"I can't remember which one but it was something like World of Warcraft, one of those where you compete against people on the internet."
It is said that Holmes was almost up for eviction. Anyone on the block he resided on had to be enrolled at the school or else they had 30 days to evacuate.
In breaking news this afternoon, the gunman's mother issued a statement through the family's attorney Lisa J. Damiani.
In a statement read by their lawyer, Arlene Holmes, the shooter's mother confirmed that she received a phone call informing her of the massacre from an ABC reporter on Friday morning, according to the Christian Post.
"You have the right person. I need to call the police. I need to fly out to Colorado," the mother had said.
"I don't know what everyone has been saying. The investigation is still continuing," stated the attorney.
After receiving a question as to what the family's reaction was regarding their son being in court, Damiani had the following to say:
"At some point in time I might be able to discuss that but at this point I don't think the family would like me to talk about that," said the lawyer, who reinforced that she represented the Holmes family and not the killer.
The Holmes family is said to be in hiding in order to maintain their privacy and remain in safety. Damiani added that their hearts and prayers go out to the victims.
