The trailer was just released for Hollywood's next surf movie. "Chasing Mavericks," starring Gerard Butler is based on a true story about the life of legendary surfer Jay Moriarity.

"Have you ever felt like you were meant for something more?" says the voice-over in the clip. "Something bigger than you?"

The trailer is narrated by Johnny Weston who plays Moriarity. Butler plays a pro surfer Frost Hesson, Moriarty's real-life mentor.

The trailer shows a young Jay Moriarity watching a group of experienced surfers riding the waves in an ocean. Then there are clips of his mishaps while learning to surf to the disappointment of Butler's character. The short clip closes with Moriarity riding a huge wave to demonstrate he has become a skilled surfer.

Butler made headlines earlier this year after his publicist issued a statement that the "Bounty Hunter" star was in rehab for an addiction to pain killers. The Scottish actor decided to check into the facility after he became dependent on the medication to treat pain from a surfing incident last year.

Butler rose to fame when he played the lead starring role in "300," "Bounty Hunter" and "How To Train Your Dragon." He has been romantically linked to many women in Hollywood including Jennifer Aniston, "Twilight" star Ashley Greene, Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Biel according to several reports.

"Chasing Mavericks" also stars Elisabeth Shue, "The Hunger Games" star Leven Rambin and Abigail Spencer, formerly of "Mad Men."

"Chasing Maverick" opens in theaters on October 26.
