Agents of SHIELD appears to have lost Simmons to the dark side, and even if the scientist does return to Coulson's team, there may be some who feel she no longer belongs.

Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) ditched her SHIELD buddies over the hiatus in order to help Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) heal, and left for parts unknown. A new sneak peek for "Making Friends and Influencing People," however, places the biochem genius at a HYDRA lab, although it is unknown how she ended up there or how Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the team will react to this sudden change when they find out (see video below).

"Well, if anything, there are all these questions," said co-series creator Maurissa Tancharoen of Skye's disappearance, according to IGN. "Why does she leave? Where does she go? What do people on the team know about where she went?"

Could Tancharoen be implying that the Director is aware of Simmons' new job, or even may have assigned her to it? If that is true, it seems like the rest of the agents aren't in on the secret - or at least Skye (Chloe Bennet) isn't. The former hacker seemed more than a little peeved when the subject of Simmons came up last week, and it looks like the two agents will no longer see eye to eye.

"I think it's safe to say, their relationship was going to change regardless after the events of the finale," said co-series creator Jed Whedon, while Tancharoen added that "the change is exacerbated by the reasons as to why she left."
