Salem's biggest power couple is planning to say their goodbyes for good on Days of Our Lives-but sadly, one of the people in that couple won't be leaving town alive.

E.J. Learns Disturbing News

Since E.J. (James Scott) was denounced from his family by betraying Stefano (Joseph Mascolo), his life has been in jeopardy. Before submitting evidence of his father's crimes to the police, E.J. was protected by the DiMera bodyguards-but since his betrayal he was no longer protected and at risk. Now, after an altercation with Clyde (James Reed) in the park over their business deal going south, his life could truly be in danger.

His wife, Sami (Allison Sweeney) was searching for him at the other end of the park so they could head to a party together, when she heard a gunshot-causing her to panic and call out her husband's name. Now, when she goes to investigate the gunshot sounds she heard, she will potentially make a heartbreaking discovery-and find her husband dead.

Sami Questions E.J. About Kristen's Accusation

It has been previously reported that E.J. would exit the canvas in October, as James Scott's final day to tape episodes was on May 2. No word had ever been given on his character potentially returning for other episodes.

Sweeney also announced her plans to depart the show in January, telling fans the news during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Her final episode is expected to air in November, and she has previously said she would come back to the show for holiday and other special episodes.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
