While the last X-Men movie was more focused on the relationship between Magneto and Professor X, both in the past and the future, it also has the connection between Mystique and Beast and it seems like that will be crucial for the next movie.

'X-Men' Writer Says Hugh Jackman's Future Is 'Very Tricky' Moving Forward

In an interview with MTV on Tuesday, Nicholas Hoult dished on what the relationship between Mystique and Beast was like in Days of Future Past even though we didn't see much of the characters together.

"There were another couple of scenes which got cut, because they didn't work technically in terms of the geography of how the movie played out in the end," he said.

"Why [Mystique and Beast] would be here - when the world is about to end - and then we've nipped home quickly to have a good night's sleep. Everyone was like, 'Well, we can't really do that.' So there were a couple of extra scenes which got cut, unfortunately."

He also briefly stated that the relationship will be more prominent in the next movie, meaning that there will be some closure for the two characters.

"I think they'll try and figure out a way to develop it more in the next one," he added.

While writer Simon Kinberg has also stated that the relationship will be key to the movie after they focused on Magneto and Professor X for the last two films, it seems like the actors are looking for some closure for the characters as well, even if it may be a little awkward.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
