It was a momentous occasion indeed today as tennis superstar Serena Williams overcame Maria Sharapova to win the gold medal in women's singles tennis competition at the 2012 London Olympics and secure a Grand Slam. After accomplishing such a feat, who will she be celebrating this momentous occasion with? Well, not a significant other apparently.

According to Celebuzz, the superstar had the following to say this past May regarding any pursuits towards a future romance:

"I have given up on dating," Williams confessed.

"It just hasn't worked out for me...I just have to remove myself from that atmosphere for about the next decade or so," she continued.

"I'm a really emotional person. I give my all and everything. I do make mistakes - like every human does - but the last relationship just was too much of heartbreak for me. I just can't go through that anymore. It was hard," she added.

Due to unsuccessful relationships in the past, the 30 year-old is currently unoptimistic on a Mr. Right. The tennis standout had previously dated notable names such as hip hop artists Drake and Common, which clearly did not fare her too well.

DJ Ryan Cameron from the V-103 Atlanta Radio Station had texted Common to query whether or not he was the Serena Williams heart-break culprit.

The Williams ex-flame responded back with the following text:

"It wasn't me."

Interesting to note, older sister Venus is reportedly single as well.  She had previously dated pro golfer Hank Kuehne in 2010, who has since tied the knot.
