In a tragic bit of news for House of Cards fans, Elizabeth Norment, who played Nancy Kaufberger, Frank Underwood's secretary on the Netflix series is dead.

The actress passed away on Oct. 13 at the age of 61, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. She passed away at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

The actress also played roles in a few Hollywood movies like Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and The Woman in Red.

Claire To Succeed Frank's Legacy After Season 3 Of House of Cards? 

Kevin Spacey, who plays Frank, and Beau Willimon, the creator of the series, remembered the actress.

"RIP Elizabeth Norment. We all loved her and she leaves a void in all of us here at HoC's," Spacey said on Twitter.

"Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth's passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all," Willimon stated.

Filming for the third season of House of Cards is currently underway in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.
